Surat-al-Naml Q 27:15–44:

Solomon and the Ant

Certainly We gave David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, “Praise (be) to God, who has favored us over many of His believing servants!” Solomon inherited (it) from David, and said, “People! We have been taught the speech of birds, and we have been given (some) of everything. Surely this–it indeed is clear favor.” Gathered before Solomon were his forces—jinn, and men, and birds—and they were arranged (in rows)—until, when they came upon the Wādī of the Ants, an ant said, “Ants! Enter your dwellings, or Solomon and his forces will crush you without realizing (it).” But he smiled, laughing at its words, and said, “My Lord, (so) dispose me that I may be thankful for your blessing with which You have blessed me and my parents, and that I may do righteousness (that) pleases You, and cause me to enter, by Your mercy, among your righteous servants.”

Solomon and the Hudhud

He reviewed the birds, and said, “Why do I not see the hudhud? Or is it one of the absent? I shall indeed punish it severely, or slaughter it, or it will bring me a clear authority.” But it did not stay (away) for long, and said, “I have encompassed what you have not encompassed, and I have brought you reliable news from (the people of) Sheba. Surely I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given (some) of everything, and she has a great throne. I found her and her people prostrating themselves before the sun instead of God. Satan has made their deeds appear enticing to them, and he has kept them from the way, and they are not (rightly) guided. (He did this) so that they would not prostrate themselves before God, who brings forth what is hidden in the heavens and the earth. He knows what you hide and what you speak aloud. God—(there is) no god but Him, Lord of the great throne.” He said, “We shall see whether you have spoken the truth or are one of the liars.”

Solomon and the Queen of Sheba

“Go with this letter of mine, and cast it (down) to them. Then turn away from them and see what they return.” She said, “Assembly! Surely an honorable letter has been cast (down) to me. Surely it is from Solomon, and surely it (reads): ‘In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Do not exalt yourselves over me, but come to me in surrender.’” She said, “Assembly! Make a pronouncement to me about my affair. I do not decide any affair until you bear me witness.” They said, “We are full of strength and full of harsh violence, but the affair (belongs) to you. See what you will command.” She said, “Surely kings, when they enter a town, corrupt it, and make the upper class of its people the lowest, and that is what they will do. Surely I am going to send a gift to them, and see what the envoys bring back.
