Chapter Ten

Ci opened her eyes trying to remember what had happened. Her stomach told her it was going to get rid of whatever she put in it, so she had to move. Moving was difficult as someone was holding her down.

She reactively pushed and turned her head at the same time and looked at Tec as he opened his eyes.

Tec's only word was sharp and repeated. "Damn." There was a pause. "Damn."

He tried to get up quickly, but their naked limbs were tangled, and his best effort was to roll backward onto the floor.

Ci quickly made it over Tec and out the door before she tossed her cookies. It was a painful deposit as her body continued to empty even after everything was gone. There was a hand on her shoulder, and she saw a wet wipe from one of their packages being held out to her.

She took it, wiped her face and decided she could stand upright. She was not sure she could look Tec in the face. She could listen to him with an aching head.

"I have found out how the rooms are cleaned." Tec was pointing at the open door they both had exited. Ci took a side step that could allow her to see back into the room. An elderly native, probably female was cleaning up the crushed flowers from the floor along with the tumbled brush under the bedding. She held a silver metal cone that drew up everything.

Ci whispered her words, “Interesting tool for backward natives to develop."

Tec finally looked at Ci. "Probably belongs to the same one who drugged the food. I'm not sure if an apology is in order."

Ci folded the wet wipe and looked out at the forest. "I was told only to apologize for something you did wrong that you could have prevented. Neither of us could have stopped our actions last night. To tell the truth, although I would prefer not to repeat it, it did release some tension."

Tec also chose to look out at the forest. "Okay, no apology. But I would repeat the action, without the drugs. Of course with understanding and cooperation of the partner."

"Well, Tec, there definitely is some advanced protectors behind the scenes here. Since they don't seem to want to meet us, I think it might be dangerous for us to stay here."

"I agree. I have nothing missing, so before we wake up after being drugged again and find we are missing our weapons, it might be a good time to move into the forest and see if there are other civilizations in this area."

She nodded at Tec, glad that her stomach had settled down. Ci decided that later water might help. "We might catch the sight of the protectors. Now is as good a time as any to start out. I don't see any of the hunters or normal natives."

Tec nodded, and he led their way into the forest, as usual she held up the rear, his six. In the military, the leader's position was twelve or the twelve o'clock on the antique timepieces.
