• The goalkeeper should be still and balanced in the shot-stopping stance just before the shot is released.

• You should help the goalkeeper select the appropriate shot-stopping technique.

• The goalkeeper should recover quickly and readjust her position if necessary to make a second save attempt if the first attempt does not secure the ball.

Coaching Progressions

1. Increase the tempo of the drill by reducing the time between shots. This also places an increased demand upon the shooter.
