Mating Room

Sigma

I land a punch on Gamma’s jaw. Knocking him into the dirt. He quickly gets to his feet, swiping a hand under his lip to wipe away the blood.

Despite what Strong and the scientist here think, we can be harmed, just not by them.

“Someone has been training,” Gamma mocks in my head.

“Or someone has just grown lazy.”

The others laugh at my taunt.

We’ve been on strict training orders since the incident in the cafeteria a week ago. There is a mission he wants us to go on. Apparently, Dr. Strong has one last chance to prove his findings to his superior, Stewart Scott.

We aren’t worried about the job. We are more than capable of handling whatever it is.

Gamma charges at me, and I barely avoid his blow to the side of my face. I counter with a swing to his, but he leans away from it and comes back with a kick to my stomach, sending me flying back into a jeep denting the side.

“Enough,” The guard in charge of training says.

I stand, chuckling through the link. “You must be soft on me, Castian. That was nearly a love tap.”

“He must think you are his Uvonu,” Omega teases his brother.

We all laugh through the link. Gamma takes the joking in stride. I move to the end of the line, allowing the next two fighters to take my spot.

“Why isn’t Alpha here leading this training?” Gamma asks. He’s standing on the opposite end of the line. They always line us up side by side when we are together.

I watch as the two new reincarnates battle in front of us.

Alpha has been on his best behavior after Strong pulled that stunt with his Uvonu. I knew they placed devices inside the breeders to track their ovulation and to determine if they are pregnant. However, we had no idea it could be used as a weapon. It took me a while to figure out how to disarm the device that was set off in Alpha’s mate. I took care of Shiloh’s while she slept that night.

“He’s being detained today,” Beta supplies. “He has a meeting with Strong.”

“Let me guess, they have him in the interrogation room?”

“Yes,” Beta replies to Gamma.

Gamma chuckles through the link. “When will they learn.”

The two reincarnates in front of us finish with the rogue being thrown to the ground. The soldier in charge calls for the next two. Beta steps forward with Iota. Iota is a great fighter but is no way a match for Beta.

“Hey, Sigma. What’s with the rogue?” Omega’s question has me lifting my head from the battle in front of me. I glance across the field we are on to the other set of reincarnates. They are doing a different drill lead by another soldier.

It takes no time to spot who Omega is referring to. It is the rogue from the mating floor, the one that was in the room with Shiloh. His gaze is on me.
