I sincerely hope that you recall your poor friend George Warburton, even though it has been over four years since we parted. Days of lucidity alternate with those of utter lunacy. I realize that I may be grasping at straws, but I hoped that a fresh set of eyes might help unearth some clue to his illness. I know you to be both a skilled physician and an honorable man, so I am presuming upon your kindness and begging that you call upon him. Perhaps you can find a light in the darkness of his mind? Our estate at Rushmere Bridge is rather remote, but can be reached by trap from Norwich. If you ask for my sister Abigail, she will ensure that you are properly settled. If you can think of anything that will help, please send to me. For the next few months I intend to reside at Shepheard’s in Cairo.[19]
