CHAPTER THIRTHTEEN

Edward

I can’t look at her, I feel stupid. Why did I allow things to get out of control? Although, I completely enjoyed it and wished we hadn’t been stood in the middle of the busy street.

I quickly look over at Roxy who is playing on her phone. She hasn’t said on word since it happened. Maybe she’s regretting it like me. No regretting is too strong a word.

I do like her and I find her very attractive. Its just we shouldn’t go back there again. We need to talk about it, I don’t want there to be a problem between us. Having her back in my life has been great. I would rather have her as a friend than lose her again. Not to mention we have to actually live and work with one another.

“Should we talk about it?” I cough, still avoiding eye contact with her.

“Talk about what?” She thinks for a second and then smiles. “Oh, the kiss. No! Its nothing important really, is it? Like you said it was a moment of weakness. I’m putting it down to all the stress we have going on at the moment.”

I let out a breath of relief. Thank god she feels the same way. “At least we feel the same way.”

She finally looks up from her phone and tilts her head to the side. “Edward, I’ve already told you I don’t do relationships and I certainly don’t do embarrassment. It was just a kiss between two friends.”

“You class us as friends?”

“Yes, don’t you?”

“You know I do, Roxy” my eyes finally lock with hers. “I’ve always classed you as a friend.”

“Good” she smiles. “We don’t have a problem then, do we?”

“Edward” says a voice approaching the table. I immediately stand up from the table and face Maxwell Thomas. He’s dressed in his normal power suit, his red hair looking like he has spent all day running his hands through it.

I shake his hand. “Maxwell great to see you.” I hand gesture towards Roxy. “This is my PA, Roxanne Willis.” His blue eyes move over to Roxy and he gives her a perfect white smile. “Let’s sit down and order.”

“Lets” he smiles again and sits down. I have known Maxwell for years. Five years ago he and his wife moved to LA where his business boomed.

“How is LA?” I ask, picking up my menu and studying it.

“Great. Kids love it and Georgina is enjoying it too.”

“Has Georgina joined you on this trip?” I ask with caution, as I know recently they had a few problems. I’m not sure of all the details, but I do know some actor was involved in the situation.

“Yes” he hisses and turns his attention to Roxy. “Roxanne, how is Edward treating you?”

“Great” she says, finally putting her phone away. She looks at me and then at Maxwell. “He can be a little aggressive at times, but I can handle him.” She winks in my direction which causes Maxwell to laugh.

“Some thing I admire in women, strength.” He turns his attention to his menu.
