A model for multitask-oriented service composition and scheduling in cloud manufacturing
This section proposes a model for multitask-oriented service composition and scheduling in cloud manufacturing. Several new concepts including task workload, service efficiency [13, 14], and enterprise capability are introduced to facilitate the analysis of various types of times such as service time, logistics time, and waiting time.
6.3.1
An illuminating example
Consider a scenario in which five production tasks producing parts of motorcycle engines need to be addressed in cloud manufacturing. A motorcycle engine comprises many different parts such as crankcase, cylinder, piston, etc. In order to simplify the presentation of this example, eight parts are selected for the five tasks, and each task comprises five subtasks, each corresponding to the production of a part (Tables 6.1 and 6.2). Since these tasks warrant production of the same parts, they will need the same resources such as machine tools, robots, and people. Each subtask has a specific workload, which is expressed using the product of unit resource, its efficiency, and required completion time. For instance, 1/2/50 means that completing the subtask needs a unit resource with an efficiency of 2 parts per day to work for 50 days (Table 6.2). There are also constraints on the tasks in terms of time, cost, and quality. For example, 60/16,000/0.95 means that the task is required to be completed within 60 days in less than or equal to 16,000 yuan (Â¥), and, moreover, the pass rate is required to be greater than or equal to 0.95 (Table 6.2). Subtasks of each task may have different composite structures that describe their execution flow, such as sequential, parallel, selective, and circular. As there may be many different production orders for the production of parts of a motorcycle engine in the real-world situations (such as due to different process and production requirements), here, we just assume that the execution of subtasks of each task follows a specific order.
