Nova

Sleep last night was terrible, but would do it all over again for Kento. He had been through so much. And helping him through those nightmares, being there and supporting him was worth feeling this tired. If I could make him feel, like he was not alone for just one minute, that he had someone he could count on to always be there when he woke screaming. I just…I worry but he is so strong. So lost but so beautiful. The guys were so good about it, they didn’t say anything and kept their distance from Kento. Even Noah who I know loves his sleep, didn’t complain once.

Things were finally looking up and moving in the right direction. We knew where Eden was, or the next best thing. A man named Jeremy knew where Eden was.

Packing up camp was silent and swift. Kento sat with me in the rear seat of the Jeep while the guys loaded it up with our gear. Ryker jumped into the driver’s seat while Noah took the front passenger.

“Hey,” Colton hissed out. I turned to see him pointing at Noah as he finished loading up a few final items in the rear of the Jeep.

“What?” Noah responded with a shit-eating grin. “I require the leg room.” He twisted and winked at me. I tried to hold in the giggles, but some escaped as I slapped my hand across my mouth. I turned wide eye to see if Colton had heard me.

Colton just rolled his eyes and shook his head closing the rear door. There was a hint of a smile as he got in the backseat, followed by Ezra.

“I guess I get Nova on my lap,” Colton teased Noah as he wrapped his fingers around my waist and, without any effort, placed me on his lap. I couldn’t stop myself; I let out a snort and giggled at the look on Noah’s face.

I glanced over to Kento, who was bundled in a huge blanket and coiled up against the window, peering out at the pink sky of a fresh new day.

The start of a new day, a new life for Kento, Ryker, Colton, Ezra, and Noah.

And me. Nova.
