The brunch buffet at this waterfront classic is always a satisfying experience (a chocolate fountain!), but Easter brunch kicks things up a notch, with all-you-can eat crab, roasted leg of lamb, and a made-to-order shrimp scampi station.

But if the words “baby animals” elicited squeals of delight from the kiddos, head east to Bellevue instead, to Kelsey Creek Farm (here), where your brood can take a peek at some other broods; chickens, cows, goats, and sheep call this farm home. You’re free to wander, or you can schedule a hands-on farm tour with the affable Farmer Jayne to get an up-close look at the little critters.

Pick up supplies for lunch on the go at the nearest PCC (here) or Metropolitan Market (here)–if you’ve spent the morning amongst the flowers, try the Mount Vernon Haggen (2601 E. Divison St.; 360-848-6999; www.haggen.com) before turning back southward–then it’s off to the University District. There, you can stretch out little legs (and enjoy the spring buds in bloom) at the Center for Urban Horticulture (here). The University District Farmers Market (here) is also in full swing every Saturday until 2 p.m.; look for spring crops there, such as asparagus, radishes, and peas, from local farms. Hand over a fiver for the kids to try something new. (How about some squeaky cheese curds from Appel Farms?) Before leaving the area, be sure to take in a landmark spring sight: the abundant cherry blossoms that grace the campus (www.depts.washington.edu/grounds/arboriculture), usually by mid-March. Finally, cap off your sweet spring day with a fully stacked burger and shake from Uneeda Burger (here) in upper Fremont, where the expansive patio should just be opening up for the season.
