I DON’T KNOW HOW, BUT I’m able to feel her fully again. She screeches inside and the fury she has for being suppressed pisses my phoenix off. She wants to be free which is something I understand so deeply. I have a tiny inkling and it’s telling me to check my bonds. They are still tight but I can pull them more. The restraints they have on me no longer restrains me but they’re about to free me. The witches and the wolf have been gone for almost an hour now. I hear no one outside, not even his lackeys.
I open my hands, palm up. I concentrate and bring forth a flick of fire and I whoop for joy. Loudly. I quickly glance up, making sure I wasn’t heard, just in case they’re still here, under some spell. I don’t know how or why my powers are back but I’m about to bust out of here. I tug at the metal and I can feel it giving in to my returned strength. I yank a few more times until both of my wrists are free and I can move them about as the metal chains jangle below them.
I place my right hand over the metal on my left hand and call forth my fire. I get it hot enough to melt the bond so it can fall off. I repeat the steps and remove the left one and then both of my ankles. I stand up, letting the blood circulate through my legs, while I shake the stiffness out of my cramping muscles from being in that weird position for entirely way too long. There’s no point in trying to play nice with these people. I’m pissed off and I’m about to show them just how angry I am.
I step towards the barred cell door that is keeping me from my freedom and place my hand over the locking mechanism. I melt that mess right on off and step outside of that god awful metal cell. I want to leave but I can’t shake that everything is not what it seems. I move towards the window closest to me and peek out the corner of the thick curtain. What I see makes my stomach drops. I’m not alone. Those witches are still out there with their backs facing me. Valentin, stops his pacing and turns to the women and says something but I catch him slyly looking directly at me. He winks before continuing his pacing. The witches didn’t catch on at all and was clueless.
He knows I’m free. Suddenly, everything clicks all together. The serum he gave me in the corked vial must have cleared any traces of the suppression potion. Damn. He did say to trust him. I close the shade and step away from the window. I need to get clean but I want to leave out of here. Tough choices. I go and peek out the window one more time and see the witches get into an all black SUV.
