Wolfe

Murder fills my vision. I’ve been called a lot of things in my lifetime.

Killer. Worse than that, a murderer. And a villain by damn near everyone. I kind of like that one. But in the end I don’t fucking care what anyone thinks about me.

Except Harmonia.

The look of betrayal in her shimmering eyes right now has me wanting to find her mother and drive a fucking stake through her cold, dead heart.

But I’ll take the man pointing a gun at Harmonia’s head. He will do just fine for now.

There’s a blur of motion at the other end of the hallway. This far away I can only make out lumps of shifting black until a crack of lighting tears through the sky. The burst of light reveals three men and they have intent to kill written all over their ugly mugs. They are shoulder to shoulder toward the front of the house.

More bodies to send back to their queenpin. My inner demons sharpen their claws on the stone walls I keep them hidden within.

I drop my head and speak fast and low. “Do everything I tell you to do. Stay with this wall at your back and never leave my side.” Years fall off my life at seeing my beauty trembling in fear.

She nods, but I can’t see her eyes so I don’t know if she will bolt the first chance she gets.

I look to my right and see one of the Primrose enforcers step off the porch and into what will be a large dining room. “You picked the wrong person to point your gun at.”

His grin is the last thing I register before the demons take over. Thirst for blood drives me forward and I don’t stop. The gun goes off but I use the darkness to my advantage and get to him faster than he expected. I push the muzzle up and the bullet goes into the plastic overhead. Two hundred pounds of enforcer drives steel covered knuckles into my ribs. I take the brunt force, carry it forward and help myself to the blade strapped to his leg. Dumbass people who think they are badass are always the ones who end up getting killed first. Arrogance is the number one killer. The smart ones hang back and let the young ones learn hard lessons.

I’m an excellent teacher.

I lock eyes with the fucker and let him see my wrath as I sink his nine-inch blade into the underside of his chin. “When you meet the devil, let him know I sent you. I’ll be along to play later.”

I have no qualms about going to hell. Especially if it means my sins protect my innocent Harmonia.

Blood is my reward for a job well done at dispatching filth. I take the stain on my soul and move on to the next motherfucker looking to hurt Harmonia.

I’m not left waiting.

“Wolfe!”

Her chest heaves and the rush of her rapid breathing forces me to end this quickly so I can tend to her needs.
