The bathroom doorknob clicked, and the door opened a small crack. I could just see the corner of the sink and Charlieâs eye as he peeked through at me.
âWhat did you just say?â he whispered, and I wanted to believe I heard a bit of hope in his voiceâthough, honestly, I knew it could have been just my imagination.
âI said Iâm hard too,â I repeated, and just to be certain he knew what I meant, I looked down at the bulge in my pants. I knew without checking that he was following my line of sight.
It hadnât escaped my attention that Charlie was horny. I tried not to look at his ill-fitting pants, tried to ignore the way he shifted his hips, the delectable aroma of his arousal. All the pregnancy week-by-week guides explained that his hormones were getting higher as he moved into the second trimester. It was totally normal what he was experiencing, and since I was an alpha, and our bodies were in close contact, I couldnât blame him for getting a boner.
Me, on the other hand, I had no excuseâunless you counted the hot-as-sin omega pressed against me.
My cheeks heated with a blush under Charlieâs scrutiny, and I was grateful for the dim hallway lighting. The door cracked open a little wider, and Charlie moved into the doorway. When I glanced up at him, his eyes were transfixed on my crotch. He couldnât seem to look away. Then he licked his lips and I nearly moaned out loud.
He cleared his throat. âYouâre⦠youâre hard,â he said, unnecessarily.
âYes, weâve established that.â And since he was distracted, I gave in to my curiosity for just one split second and peeked down at his own erection straining at his jeans. âAnd so are you.â I shrugged, trying to play it cool but feeling anything but. âNothing wrong with that.â
âWell⦠thereâs one thing wrong with that.â His mouth turned down at the corners in a frown. He finally looked back up at me, sadness and frustration in his eyes.
I wanted to step forward, close the distance between us, and wrap him back up in my arms. Cuddling on the couch, so seemingly innocent, had been the most action Iâd had in ages. It felt right, having him pressed against me, and I would do anything I could to have him back there.
âWhat is it?â I asked. âWhatâs wrong?â
He chuckled darkly. âIâm horny⦠and youâre horny⦠and neither of us can do anything about it.â He huffed a breath and took a small step back. âI should probably go so you can, you know, take care of that.â
Without another word, he turned away and walked toward the front door. âWait!â I shouted before I could stop myself.
His feet halted where they were, but he didnât turn back to look at me.
âWe could⦠I mean, I could⦠take care of you.â I winced at how pathetic I sounded. Here was where he would realize what an asshole I was. Just a creep trying to get into his pants, but that wasnât at all what I meant.
