The Vampire Heir: Bride of the Half Blood

Chapter One

Thalia knew from the position of Sular, the day moon of Gamalia, that it was around noon. Her breath came out in white puffs in the cold midwinter air as she crouched behind the large brawny tree, holding her crossbow in her hands. There was a mist about the land and seeing clearly was obscured somehow. She’d been chasing a wild boar from the hunting ground, but now, it was somewhere in the wastelands. She’d been warned not to venture there, but she was the royal Princess of Gamalia, unknown city beneath the earth’s surface. She could very well go where she pleased.

The wastelands were reserved for outcasts, like a land of exile, a place where people who broke the rules were banished to. It was said to hold many different kinds of creatures, half bloods and criminals. The wasteland bordered the hunting region, so it was difficult to stay away when your prey got away.

It was a great contrast to the hunting ground. Whereas the land used for hunting wild animals was green and lush, with hot springs and rivers, the wasteland had trees without leaves, very sparse shrubbery, and had an eerie feel about it. It was darker in comparison and no one in their right mind would cross the border between, but Princess Thalia did.

She’d lost the men who accompanied her a few miles back, but no worries, she knew her way around. There was a sound and a shadow she made out in the dense mist. Then, there was a screech and then a thud. She focused her green eyes until she made out the frame of a man coming towards her. He was carrying something on his shoulder; her prize!

“Oh no, you don’t!” She hissed.

She stepped from behind the tree and into the path of the man. She could see him better now that he was near, and the mist seemed to have thinned a bit. He was tall and wearing what appeared to be a bear skin wrapped around his waist like a kilt. His muscled torso and powerful arms were bare except for the strap of the bow he carried on his back. Fleetingly, Thalia wondered what was beneath the skirt as her eyes flicked over his frame and rested on his bulging thighs.

“You’ve got my hog,” she declared in a somewhat taut voice.

“Out of my way,” was his husky reply.

They faced each other. He, some inches taller, seemed to tower her like the tree she had hidden behind. His black hair hung loosely about his shoulders and his bright blue eyes icy as they stared at her.

“I have been chasing that beast for hours. You can’t have it,” she argued.

“I caught him. He’s mine,” he moved and her and she put a foot out to try and trip him, but failed. He just sauntered on by her as if he hadn’t a care in the world.

Thalia would have none of that. She stepped directly in his path, but he continued moving, walking right into her.
