Chapter 3

The following day, she made her way to the office. She was annoyed with Matthew for leaving her house. But, she would deal with that matter later. She had an appointment with a patient who was bi-polar and the patient charts were in her office. She turned the door, only to be greeted with a pleasant surprise. Her face lit up. She felt appreciated. Apparently Stacey let him in her office. There on the table was a bouquet of daisies and a note. She read the note and smiled. It said that he missed her and was thinking of her. She wanted to call him. She tried calling him but only got a busy tone. He then called her back. She thanked him for the flowers. He told her that she was most welcome and asked if he would see her tonight. She said that she would think about it and call him later. She hung up the call and prepared for her appointment.

Three hours later, her phone rang. Matthew was calling her. She answered the call and told him that she was still thinking about it. He wanted her to hurry up and make a decision. He wanted to carry her to Roberto’s because he needed to talk to her and because it was very difficult to get a reservation at Roberto’s since it was the best restaurant in the city. She told him that she was upset by him leaving in the morning and that she wanted him to stay. He apologized but he had an early morning meeting and his attendance was mandatory. He told her that he would make it up to her tonight and that all she had to do was to say yes. She was still upset with him. He could have left her a note. She then stared at the note and the flowers. She said yes. He told her to be ready by 8.She hung up the call. Her 9 o’clock just walked in.

“Doc, I just find it easier to lie to women. If I am honest, they do not seem to like me.”

“Why do you think that is the case, Perry? What kind of relationship do you think you will achieve by continuing the lies and deceit?”

Perry paused for a minute and thought to himself. Terry was still thinking about last night. She never felt so much pleasure and she wanted more. She was excited that she was meeting up with Matthew later. She was hoping for round two. She wanted him and only him. Her fantasies were then interrupted by her client’s statement.

“I will get a relationship filled with lies and deceit”

“Exactly.”

“So if you decide to start with honesty and maintain that level of integrity, you will have that relationship of trust and true love which is something that needs to start with yourself first. You need to take responsibility and commit to yourself first. You need to love yourself first and value yourself before anyone else does.”

Perry understood exactly what she was saying.
