I went from helping a woman retrieve her necklace to burying myself deep inside her. How did I let everything get this far?

Racing back home, I don’t take my foot off the gas until I reach my house. All night I lay awake and argue with myself.

She was a virgin? Of course, she was a virgin. Any member of the mafia knows that the daughter of The Boss is to remain a virgin until the night of her wedding. But for some reason, I never connected the dots.

To me, Deena is more than just The Boss’s daughter. She’s her own person.

How could I give in and let myself fall for someone I’m never supposed to lay eyes on? Why would I risk it all?

The answer is clear as day, sitting in front of me this whole time.

Because she’s perfect for me in every way and I’ve fallen in love.

I’ve heard it before that love makes people do crazy things. Well, I’m living proof that this is true. But the craziest thing I did in the last week, was fall in love with her, then leave her.

I just ruined the best thing I ever had.

What the fuck was I thinking?

I’m a trustworthy member of the Risottini mafia and I’m rich. No one can do a better job of taking care of her than I can. I’m the only man good enough for her. Who cares what The Boss might think? I love her.

It’s the middle of the night and I won’t be able to sleep until I talk to her. Jumping out of bed, I search for my phone. I need to talk to her, now. Turning on every light in my house, my phone is nowhere to be found.

Then it dawns on me to check the car.

Hustling outside, I see my phone laying on the dashboard of my car. Plopping down into the driver’s seat I reach across the console and pick it up. Deep down, I hope to see a message from Deena. But as the screen flashes, there’s nothing.

Not one single text or phone call.

Immediately, I pull up a blank text message to Deena but pause as a lump forms in the back of my throat. What do I say? Sorry for taking your virginity and bailing? Take me back? I didn’t mean it?

None of the words I can think to say, sound right. This isn’t something I can fix over a text message. I need to prove to her that I’m here for her and will do whatever it takes to always be with her.

As I sit pondering my next move, the streetlight shines down into the passenger seat and something shiny catches my eye. The bag that holds Deena’s necklace must have fallen from Deena’s purse when I dropped her off.

A slight opening in the bag causes the pearls and beads to scatter out over my seat. Staring at the tiny pieces of necklace, sparks an idea.

I scroll through my phone and dial my boy, Jay.
