CHAPTER 14

Silas

Right after Willow sets her lunch tray down, I grab her hips and swing her so that she's straddling my lap with her back to my chest. She laughs as do several of the people in the cafeteria.

“I swear you're getting more like a caveman each and every day.”

I move Willow back so I can nuzzle my head in the back of her neck. I love the way my girl smells and how goose bumps travel all over her body when I give her feather like kisses.

Our whole table is filled up with just our regular people, the way I like it. Over the past week Shane & Shayna have been sitting with us and not with the assholes at the other table, the fake people. The people I used to sit with but can't stand anymore. That fucker Nick and that spread-eagled Macy are always glaring at us, especially Willow.

I'm glad that Willow hasn't even mentioned what she talked to her dad and me about several days ago. We haven't heard anything else about it, no more pleading, no more of her doing weird shit on her own, thank God.

I inhale at the back of her neck as the shudder goes through me. I can only imagine what would happen if she willingly gave herself over to him. I don't think the third time would be a charm for us, it might be for him. He would get what he wants and then he’d probably get bored of her, then make a game out of her life like he likes to do.

I've been thinking the same way as Willow has, but my plan is just a little bit different. And I've got the skills and the know how to pull it off, more than my girl does. I've been doing this business for a long time. Even though she's been in the family, she hasn't been in the field.

A loud crash by the entrance has all of our heads snapping in that direction. I pull Willow closer to me, almost ready to jump up and place my girl behind me not knowing what's going on, but I hate the sound of that noise.

Both of us watch as a very annoyed looking Shane and a scared to death looking Shayna frantically make their way to our table.

They sit down and lean their heads in causing the rest of us to do the same. Even though it's only Lee, Taylor, Willow and myself.

I make eye contact with the highest up Bob, his name is actually Jack, but the guys like how Willow gave them all the name of Bob and shake my head at him. Do not intervene, yet.

“You need to see this,” Shane says to me as he shakes his head and opens up his phone.

He finds what he was looking for and holds the phone up for me to see.
