he was picking so long in the sun
without a hat on his head
that he hated the things he was picking.
That’s why he didn’t eat.
His teachers said he paid attention
like a wisp of dust pays attention.
You held out your hand to catch him
but found nothing inside.
His eyes burned, snow on the mountains,
you cannot build a boat from snow.
