Chapter Sixteen
I stared at the tantalizing vampire as my loins quivered. The weird part was I never used the word loins beforeâand I would likely throat punch someone pretentious enough to do soâbut that was the kind of effect Antony was having on me.
He had to be the hottest man Iâd ever laid eyes on.
Was it stupid to agree to spend the night with him here in his small, aromatic cottage? Probably. Iâd been known to do lots of stupid things, but none sounded quite as fun as the prospect of working up a sweat with Mr. Sexy.
Dax wasnât pleased, but that should make me even more inclined. Heâd been pretty nice to me since coming to this crazed wonderland, but that didnât excuse any of the terrible things heâd done leading up to that point. Plus, Iâd given him the map, sending him on his merry way to let him be the hero, the white knight riding up on his steed to save his sister, Frankie, and Jason.
And I could work off some pent-up energy.
Antony watched me quietly while all these thoughts ran riot through my brain. His posture was both regal and relaxed as he leaned against one of the beams that kept his angled roof up. I, on the other hand, felt awkward as hell just sitting at his kitchen table.
I drummed my fingers on the wood, tapping out a beat. âSo⦠what should we do?â
Antony smiled. âWhatever the lady pleases.â
God, even his responses were sexy.
âWell, I have to warn you. Iâm not exactly used to this kind of thing. Iâm more of a âgo on a few dates, get to know a person, check out their Instagram stories, awkwardly sext until it dries upâ kind of thing.â
Antony cocked his head as if he had no idea what I was talking about.
âRight. Stuck in a maze. No Instagram. Got it.â Making my thumb and forefinger into a gun, I gave him a wink and a finger shoot⦠and instantly regretted it. How was I so bad at this? Oh, thatâs right. I didnât date. Hadnât ever really dated. And the last person Iâd made out with was Dax, and he did it just to trick me, soâ¦
Antony closed the short distance from the beam to the table and leaned forward, placing both palms on the wood until our faces were only a foot apart. âYou are quite beautiful, Winter. Even your nameâitâs like freshly fallen snow.â
He stared into my eyes, melting me with each passing second. There was no one more handsome or sexy in the world. His chin, his cheeks, his lips were all the work of a master sculpture. The soft indent at the base of his throat was smooth and alluring. The rounded chest and flat abs peeking out of his halfway unbuttoned shirt made me want to undress him fully. He smelled of rosemary and cinnamon and a scent I couldnât nameâfragrant and muskyâbut it all made me want to bury my nose in his chest and inhale.
