NINE

DECEMBER 25TH

NICHOLAS

I could spend hours between Tamryn’s legs if given the opportunity. Just my luck, though, that the slight flurry that started when Sally and Hunter came to wake me up is not a full-blown snowstorm.

If the news is to be believed, we aren’t just looking at the first white Christmas Shadowvale has seen in two decades. We’re looking at a Christmas blizzard, and I can’t wait.

Too bad that means I also can’t bend her over and fuck her against Emerson’s grave like I’ve spent way too many years fantasizing about.

I have to bring Tam back inside. It’s too cold, and the temperature is dropping. However, now that it’s Christmas day, we’re both wide awake, and she inadvertently triggered the prey instinct I have spent my whole damn life trying to ignore, I’m not just going back to bed.

If I don’t get inside this woman and claim her as mine, I don’t know what I’ll do. It won’t be good, though, so for the sake of Christmas for every last person in Shadowvale, I’m doing this now.

Promising her I’ll warm her up, I take Tam in my arms; she’s boneless from pleasure, but also shivering from the cold. I didn’t even stop to pull on my shoes before I ran after her so the only thing warming up my chest is her heat and the undeniable need I feel for her.

We’re back inside within minutes. Hunter and Sally have made themselves scarce, either going to sleep again, or taking the time for a two a.m. quickie, their favorite.

I swear, I will give Sally Clark whatever the fuck she wants for what she just did. I tolerated her for Hunter’s sake, but for being the one to make sure Tamryn couldn’t get away, then getting Hunter to let them both into the red room to alert me? Anything she wants is hers. Shit, I’ll even toss her the keys to my red Maserati despite the teal green one Hunter’s giving her later today.

If she hadn’t gotten up for a glass of something to drink, if Tamryn managed to find her way out into the snow and it took until I woke up on my own to track her, who knows what could have happened to her?

No. This is exactly why I have to keep her right where I want her. She might not believe it yet, but she’ll never be safer anywhere other than in my reach.

Does she know what plans I have for her?

Considering the way she asks me to put her down in a tired voice once I bring her back to the red room, there’s a good chance.

I set her on her feet. She stumbles. I’m right there to catch her, satisfied when she doesn’t pull away, but falls against my chest instead.

It takes her a second to notice. Clearing her throat, she straightens, then says, “Sorry. I’m really tired. I’d like to go to bed now.”

Oh, Tam. If only.

I let her think that she can get away with trying to leave me without any consequences.
