Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Divide the blackberries equally among four ramekins, and stir about 1 teaspoon maple syrup into each one, if you like, ensuring that the berries are well coated.

Pulse the remaining ingredients except the milk in a blender or food processor for about 30 seconds until you have a crumble texture. Divide the crumble evenly among the ramekins, then spoon 2 tablespoons or so of the milk over the top of each serving, allowing it to soak through the mixture.

Sit the ramekins on a baking tray, and cover with a piece of baking paper to prevent burning. Bake for 20 minutes until slightly browned on top. Remove from the oven, and stir to mix the berries and warm milk into the crumble, turning everything a beautiful purple colour. Allow to cool a little before serving, remembering that the ramekins can be hot.

For little ones: Empty the crumble into a fresh bowl for quicker cooling, and squash the crumble against a spoon for self-feeding.
