If you have a Raspberry Pi camera module, make sure it’s connected and you’ve switched on the camera module setting. You should have received setup instructions with your camera; refer to www.raspberrypi.org/camera for detailed instructions on installing the camera module.

Test your camera by typing one of the commands in the following sections, position the camera toward yourself, smile, and press Enter. You should have a wonderful portrait of yourself saved to a file called test.bmp. You use this technique of taking pictures throughout this chapter.
