The low kick

This puts pressure on the other side by kicking the ball low and fast. It’s a good strategy to employ on a windy day and if the kicker can pick an isolated player, especially if they are looking in the wrong direction, tying up their laces or picking their nose.

The long kick

The most common restart kick, it is especially useful if you think the opposite team will kick into touch. If they do, it is very important to have a lineout strategy in place so that the ball can be recycled quickly and put into play to your advantage.

‘He moves with the elegance of a cow on a bicycle’
