Wave-particle duality is one of the fundamental tenets of quantum physics because it shows that physics is not as binary as we thought. Finding out about the wave-particle duality does not negate all the laws and principles that we know from Newton, but rather it provides us with a new perspective. Newtonian laws do not impact quantum physics laws and vice versa. This is because it is extremely difficult to see quantum laws since we are dealing with such minuscule particles, where we can easily see a Newtonian law in action, because they are macroscopic.

Quantum physics allows scientists to understand the atomic structure of materials, which allows them to better use them. This has helped in creating stronger and lighter materials for cars, planes, and cell phones, among other things.
