Instead of pursuing the string s, Shor’s algorithm searches for the period of a set of results that continually repeat themselves (Figure 28). With this knowledge the correct factors are quickly discovered. The quantum circuit of Shor’s algorithm has a similar look to Figure 27. The main differences are the Hadamard transforms are replaced by quantum Fourier transforms[17] and a set of states remain after the first observation, instead of the two states of Simon’s algorithm. Due to the latter, Shor’s algorithm is comparable to a multiple-slit experiment.
