Anonymous function

An anonymous function is a function that is not stored in a program file, but is associated with a variable whose data type is function handle. Anonymous functions can accept inputs and return outputs, just as standard functions can do. However, they can contain only a single executable statement.

While normal functions are defined using the def keyword, in Python anonymous functions are defined using the lambda keyword. Hence, anonymous functions are also called lambda functions.
