It’s surreal to think that I’m married to my enemy’s daughter. Tied to her in the eyes of the law, and for some reason, I don’t feel as dirty as I expected. In fact, getting married to Bella and being able to call her mine is the highlight of this entire fucking revenge plot so far.

The fire hasn’t gone out in her eyes, as I sit down in a seat on the jet opposite her, since I decided we’d make a head start and go straight to the Maldives for our honeymoon. We had been booked into the Waldorf Hotel, but I wanted to get Bella out of Washington. Satisfaction coils through me, as I’ve got one week alone with her on a private island for our honeymoon, and I intend to make the most of it.

“How are you feeling, Mrs. Darcy?”

Her eyes narrow. “Don’t call me that.”

“What? It’s your name now.” I lean forward, clasping my hands together and staring at her. “You belong to me now, Bella.”

She shudders at that, either from arousal or fear, both of which excite me. “I don’t belong to anyone. I’m a human being. You can’t own me.”

“You’re wrong. In our world, marriage may as well be slavery.” I stand and walk behind her seat, setting my hand on the back of it. I lean down to whisper in her ear. “Before long, you’ll be screaming my name. And every single time I ask you who you belong to, you’ll tell me my name repeatedly, and if you don’t I won’t let you come.”

Bella gets out of the seat and turns to face me, a flame of anger burning in her eyes. “You’ve no right to speak to me like that,” she hisses. “I’m not a puppet you can use for your own pleasure.”

I chuckle darkly, watching her. “That’s what a wife is. A puppet.” I step toward her, and she backs away, clenching her fists by her sides as she realizes I’m backing her into a corner. There’s nowhere for her to go.

Once her back hits the wall, I notice the way her lips part. Even now, as she fights it, her body is craving what I can give her. Pure pleasure. It’s clear that she wants me as badly as I want her, and it’s intoxicating.

I place my hand gently around her throat and squeeze. “And you may scream and shout that you don’t want to be used, but deep down, I can see it in your eyes. You want me to take you against your will.” I drag my lips across her cheek. “And in time, you will submit to me willingly.”

The fire in Bella’s eyes flares brighter, and a vein pulses in her temple as she straightens and meets my gaze, even while my hand remains wrapped around her throat like a collar. Her hands tremble ever so slightly as if she is fighting the urge to reach out and touch me—or push me away.

“Do you really think that? That I will just bow down to you?” She spits the words at me, venom dripping from every syllable.
