How to Create a Movement

This chart comes from a presentation given by Russell Brunson. He built a powerful software product called ClickFunnels, which became almost an instant success. He talks about “creators” as those of us who are creating “works of art” (our products) and claims that all you need is 1,000 true fans to build a company. As our fans go through the process of starting as a student and eventually becoming a teacher, they become even more efficient as both a user of our processes and systems and as a guide. As I am sure you have observed, unless you contribute to the lives of others, you cannot grow beyond what you can learn on your own.

You grow through teaching others; sharing your wisdom and processes so that others can benefit greatly by the work you pioneered.

Your Certification students will think about how this might be scary, which is normal. Acknowledge their fear and commend them on their courage; assure them that they are on the right track. They will lose the fear as they gain experience and see the results of their actions. Watch as they develop a deep confidence and find their true voice.

The Charismatic and Attractive Characters

Live the life your audience seeks to live. Lead by example; show people what you have done so they will bond with you and be attracted to wanting a life like the one you’ve designed for yourself. On one level, help them aspire to be like you. This will motivate them to take that step; to step into the life you want them to have. If they are going to “become” you, the goal is to make that as attractive as possible to those who know you. You may not think you are exciting and charismatic, but if you are passionate about your mission and your goals, then you can display that passion when you communicate through video and writing to your tribe.

Your Certainty and Your Confidence

If you are going to be a leader, maintain absolute certainty, even if you are not entirely there yet. “Act as if...” is a common catchphrase, but it’s rooted in the truth of human nature.

Be completely certain in who you are and what you do, and people will be attracted to you when they see that you know what is working and can demonstrate success. This starts by lightening up and showing you are enjoying life and having fun.

What It Takes to Be a Leader of Your Tribe

Be highly communicative; be and act special in an inviting way. Being normal is not so attractive, but making a bold claim, stepping out of your comfort zone, and being consistently provocative, yet upbeat and positive, certainly is. Being a leader means you can lead by being you out loud . Not in secret and not quietly. Be You. Be Loud. Have Fun!
