Much of my personal understanding of M/s and poly is a product of my personal history. I knew that I was poly before I ever had my cock inside a girl. I got the basic idea from Robert Heinlein in Stranger In A Strange Land. If you actually love or care for someone, you want them to be happy, and tying that happiness to “you only” was selfish and narrow-minded. As time wore on, I also realized that it was a recipe for resentment and failed relationships.

In the early 1990s I married Stephanie, who came out of a failed marriage and had determined that she was poly by nature.
