Bump!

The girl opens her eyes. She is back on the bus.

She looks down at the book and sees a picture of the Librarian.

Why didn’t he jump? the girl wonders.

At the bottom of the page she sees the words: There are more lost readers who need my help.

EPILOGUE

NOTES FROM THE LIBRARIAN

There are books in the Library of Doom. Some get power by sucking victims into them. The more victims, the stronger the books grow.

I know how deadly these books are. I was once their victim. Before I became the Librarian, I worked as a page. One of my duties was to check on the Venomous Volume each morning.

One day, I was careless handling the book. A long, poisonous tongue lashed out from its pages. It stung my hand. I was in the Library’s sickroom for three months. I still carry the scar. The experience taught me to never underestimate the power of evil words.

The poison books, like the one from this adventure, are the worst of them. After I rescued the girl, I put the books in a Kaku time bubble. The bubble changes its location every day.
