Chapter Nineteen

Ink

IT’S BEEN A few days since Phoebe and her brothers sat down to talk. She’s been happier and less stressed since their conversation. A smile covers her face now when we happen to run into them. We’ve seen them at the diner a few times since their talk. We haven’t sat with them, but she did stop to talk to them and played with the kids for a few minutes. Corrinth was happy as hell to see her children getting along.

Today, I’m up early so I can get ready to head out on a run. We’ve gotten word about a shipment of women and kids who need to be placed somewhere. We’re the club with the most vacancies in our compound so Renegade agreed for us to take them in. Psycho, Chains, Smokey, and myself are heading out along with a Prospect to drive the van.

After taking a shower and making breakfast for Phoebe and me, I’m in the bedroom packing my bag as Phoebe sits on the bed watching me. She’s quiet this morning and I know it’s because she doesn’t want me to leave. I have no choice in what runs I do and don’t go on though. At least not until she’s ready to go into labor. I’ve already told Renegade I won’t be going on them when she gets closer to her due date. As a father and her brother, he understands where I’m coming from and isn’t going to make me go. None of us do at that point in time.

“Baby girl, you know I’ll be back as soon as I can,” I tell her, putting the last of my clothes in my bag. “We should only be gone a few days and then I won’t have to go on the next one. We switch out every single run unless one of us volunteer to go.”

“I know. You’ll be back in time for my next appointment?”

“I’ll be back. I’ve already told Renegade I’ll leave early if I have to. I’m not missin’ another one.”

“Okay. I’m just gonna be here working and maybe visiting with mom. I’m sure she’d like some company.”

“She probably would. Are you gonna head to the clubhouse with me?”

“Yeah. I’ll go for a little while.”

Grabbing my bag, Phoebe and I head from the apartment and make our way to the garage. I’d love to have her on the back of my bike but not until our little one is born. Then I plan on taking her for a long ride. We won’t stay overnight anywhere because I know she won’t be away from our little one that long. I won’t want to be away that long either. We can take a ride through town and maybe out to get dinner somewhere we haven’t been before.

Helping Phoebe into her car, I place my bag in the backseat for now. I’ll tie it down to my bike or put it in the van when we get to the clubhouse. Probably put it in the van since I already have guns in my saddle bags.
