CHAPTER FOURTEEN—Jenny

She’d barely sat down on her bed when another presence filled the room.

Ivan had followed her. “I had hoped you wouldn’t leave the castle.”

She hadn’t. She planned to speak to Liam and Nick, but she couldn’t handle that at the moment. Her heart was breaking. She was angry, and all she wanted was Selena.

She stood. “I need to find Selena.”

“First, I need to show you something.” He held up a picture.

Jenny’s mind was so occupied that it took her a moment to understand what she was seeing. Then she snatched the photo and examined it. “Kylessa.” She was chained to a wall. Her clothes were torn, and her usual tan skin looked ashen and thin. “When was this taken?”

“Today.”

Her fingers trembled. Her friend had been gone for over a year. How much pain had she suffered? “Who has her?” She looked up when Ivan didn’t answer immediately.

His face lacked expression, but his eyes watched her like a predator. She took a step back. “What do you want?”

“You know what I want.”

She frowned. “You want to mate with me.”

“No, I just want to fuck until your pregnant. We don’t have to mate. I’ll be quick unless you later demand otherwise.” His gray eyes darkened.

Jenny cringed and shook her head. “I can’t.” She closed her eyes. Hadn’t she told the men she’d sacrifice herself before anyone else got hurt? She lied. She was just as weak as them.

“Then give me your daughter.”

“What?” Her eyes widened.

“Lexie told me that you’re having daughters, and one of them belongs to Liam. Promise her hand to me, and I’ll find Kylessa.”

She was already shaking her head.

“Kylessa could die,” Ivan said. “I’ve never harmed a woman I’ve slept with, not physically or mentally. They were all very pleased to be with me. You can put in the contract that I’ll never hurt her or take her against her will. In fact, once she gives birth to my heir, I’ll leave for Andora, and all of this will be hers until our child is old enough to take his or her place on my throne.”

“No!”

“Then Kylessa is dead,” Ivan said plainly.

“I’ll tell Vita what you’re planning.” Jenny tried to call her.

“She can’t be reached at the moment.”

“How are you blocking me?” She couldn’t feel Nick or Liam, either. The walls had been erected once more.

He didn’t gloat. He didn’t even smirk, and that only enraged her further. He was acting like her choice was inevitable. “Imagine how pleased Vita will be to have her daughter back. You do want to please your mother, don’t you?”

Jenny turned away and shook her head.

She did want to please her mother. No one had ever claimed her with such joy before. No one but Selena had held her as she wept. Vita had held her and sang her softly to sleep.

She had wanted a mother her entire life, and Vita cared about her children. She cared enough to almost declare war on Kylessa’s behalf.

“You were Kylessa’s friend,” he said. “You were a friend, but now you are her sister.
