By the time we headed back to the hotel, we were dripping wet and the sun was beating down on our backs as we made it to the front gate. We hadnât really spoken much apart from the odd comment about the surf, so Iâd used the time to come up with my wicked plans to get my arch enemy brother back. Which mostly involved baiting him to no end.
After weâd showered and dressed in some dry shorts and shirts, we sought out the others, finding them all gathered in the lounge.
Luther was sat alone on one side of the space, looking like he was dozing in his chair, his head bowed low and his phone loose between his fingers.
Rogue was lying on a couch with her head in Chaseâs lap and her feet draped over JJ, giggling at something they were saying. They looked over as we entered and Fox split off from me to go and sit near Luther, moving like a soldier on a mission of war. I strode casually over to join the others scooping Rogue up and sitting between JJ and Chase as I placed her down beside me.
âWhereâve you been?â she murmured, sniffing me like she could smell the soap on my flesh and I caught the scent of whiskey on her in return.
âMe and Foxy boy went for a surf,â I said with a shrug and she smiled hopefully, leaning in to whisper to me.
âDid you make up with him? Is he gonna be my badger again?â
âNope,â I said and her smile vanished.
Having her this close was the darkest kind of temptation and my eyes lingered way too long on her mouth, the urge to steal a kiss almost enough to break me. But I didnât, I held firm, my anger with her too sharp to be ignored and I turned away, finding Foxy boy watching us. Well I couldnât kiss her, but I could sure as fuck touch her.
I laid my hand on her knee and heard her breath hitch a little as I dug my fingers in. It felt so fucking good, this contact, but I wasnât fool enough to take it further. Fox watched our interaction with green, green envy in his eyes, though he locked that shit down faster than a seagullâs asshole in the face of an approaching storm.
âI should talk to him.â Rogue tried to get up, but I pressed my hand down harder, not letting her go.
âNah, heâs good. Arenât you Foxy?â I asked loudly.
He grunted in response and JJ looked at me in my periphery, shifting forward in his seat anxiously like he wanted to go over to Fox and I had to pity the asshole. I swear he was pining for the guy.
âHave you been drinking, beautiful?â I asked curiously and Chase chuckled darkly as she shook her head in false innocence.
âSheâs shit faced,â he supplied. âShe started a drinking game with Luther after they kissed and made up.â
âIs that so?â I asked, eyeing
