I smell sex and death.

Covered in blood, sweat, and possibly tears, I’m the most disgusting I have ever been. Well, since the moment I left the West’s last Christmas as their house burned to the ground with the entire family inside.

Aside from Phoenix, of course.

I scoff and wipe my brow with the remains of Ashley’s torn shirt, tossing it in the bag Xavier grabbed from the boathouse. We discussed for a few minutes what to do with the bodies, deciding to put them in a bag with a bunch of rocks to hold them down in the water.

Flesh and bone deteriorate fast, and can float, but plastic garbage bags don’t decompose at the same rate.

“Strip,” Xavier says, and my body heats in a new way at his command. It’s dark, low, dirty, inviting.

Wiping my hands off on my dress, I do as he says and remove the clothes from my body, slowly, my fingers trailing up my skin and begging for him to touch me. Just one more time.

“Hell,” he whispers.

I grin and bite my lip, my eyes meeting his hooded ones once my dress is above my head. Tossing it toward him, I reach down to remove my underwear. No need to wear a bra with the corset keeping the girls in shape.

Sliding the fabric down until it’s at my feet, I step out of the dress. I grab the lace and toss it toward Xavier, watching as he fumbles with his shirt afterward. I can’t help but giggle when he begins stripping the rest of his clothes off. He flips me off when I start belly laughing at his stumbling form as it falls into the sand.

“Shut up,” he grits out, but a smile is on his lips now.

We’re both high, but not as much as we could be if adrenaline wasn’t running the Ecstasy through our systems faster.

I feel better than I did last year.

I feel freer.

“X,” I breathe out, walking toward him as he stands up, brushing the sand from his skin.

His head snaps up and our gazes meet, my heart rate picking up impossibly in response. Reaching out, his hands grip my shoulders, and he pulls me into him, our bare skin meeting for the first time. Both of us are slick with blood and sweat, and though we’re exhausted, new energy flows through us the moment his lips crash against mine.

Sliding my hands along his forearms, up his biceps, and toward his neck, I tug on his hair and try to drag him down closer to me. He groans at the slight pain from my nails scratching his scalp. I dig in a little more, feeling a tiny trickle of blood fall over my fingertips. My nipples harden and the friction between his chest and mine forces my thighs to clench, searching for a different type of friction.

Breaking away from me, Xavier takes a deep breath and meets my eyes again, licking his lip, as if he’s savoring my taste. I bite my lip and tilt my head in question, because I didn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
