Hereafter, the diesel-electric, special-mission submarines Baya (AGSS 318), Archerfish (SS 311), and Salmon (SS 573), the bathyscaph Trieste II, and the floating dry dock ARD 20 would report to Submarine Development Group 1; the Deep Submergence Group ceased to exist. Later, the Development Group would gain control of the special projects submarines Halibut, Seawolf (SSN 575), Parche (SSN 683), and others, as well as the future bathyscaph support ship Point Loma (AGDS 2), the deep submersibles Turtle (DSV 3) and Sea Cliff (DSV 4), and the Man-in-the-Sea/SEALAB program.
