7. Embed tweets
Along with Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram you can embed a post on Twitter into your website or blog. Click on the drop-down arrow on the post, click ‘embed tweet’, and the code you need to add to your website or blog post will be displayed. When you paste in the code, the post will show, including all the clickable ways to interact with that post, such as favouriting and retweeting.
This is a great way to get people who read your blog engaged in your social networking activity. Use the post as an opportunity to ask a question or as an example of feedback on a certain subject. You can create entire blog posts around one tweet – it doesn’t have to be your own, you can embed any tweet into your posts.
I’ve used the ‘embed tweet’ function to great effect when asking people to share a post to enter a draw. People can share there and then from your post, and they also see that others are sharing too – great ‘social proof’ for getting others involved.
TWITTER FOLLOWERS
If I follow you, it means I get to see your tweets on my home page along with all the tweets of everyone else I follow in chronological order. Following does not have to be reciprocated. You can see the number of people you are following and those who follow you in the top left of your home screen, and these statistics are publicly available.
Quality and not quantity counts with Twitter followers. Followers who regularly chat to you, and retweet your tweets and links to their own followers, are only earned through building relationships with other tweeps (a word for Twitter users).
You need to join in the conversations and be active if you want people to act on your tweets and to be engaged with your content.
It’s nice to tweet a quick hello to new followers. Being courteous and friendly (not fawning) is important but don’t worry, you are not expected to keep up with every follower!
