Chapter 6
His omega looks down at him with an ever growing smile, eventually saying, “Hey. Know what this looks like?”
And Liam’s looking back up like he’s some statue deity come to life. Otherworldly with his eyes aglow like that, smirking like he’s pleased by the insinuation. Liam wants to rub his face on his leg for an entirely different reason, like a cat looking for more pets.
“More than you know,” he responds, guttural and low.
He gets a sense that this is how ranks actually are for alphas. He always thought Mike was the top dog, getting the expensive toys plus respect and as many ladies as he’d like. Sometimes his grandmother looks at Mike distastefully and mutters something about him having his cake, with her nose upturned. Liam’s not sure what that’s supposed to mean, except that he gets everything great.
So this is a new concept for him, to think that the ranks are actually inverse, that the alpha is the servant and the others are on top.
But maybe that’s not how Mike thinks at all. Maybe it’s just him and Skye, and this is how they are.
Skye clears his throat, looking up at the windows. Liam checks over his shoulder too, wondering what he’s afraid of. Being seen, it seems like. But by who? The wolf he mentioned or someone more recent, like Raoul?
Nothing there, of course, but if there was, Liam would be up in a moment.
Bill could be out there pretty soon though. He might be on his way now.
Looks back up at his deity, wondering when he can stand and how he’s gonna do it. There’s only one thing that seems to be functional below his waist right now, and that’s not his knees. And Skye’s hands are coming up the back of his head, threading through his hair, making him want to slink to the floor and take the little wolf with him, roll him around in the covers.
Serving him a different way, he thinks with a snort.
Skye looks like he’s about to laugh too, but his words are different from his mood.
“You could, you know,” he says, and even though he’s relaxed and unafraid, the sound is all wrong. Liam could. Like he’s the only one that wants to, like Skye is only going along with it.
“No. Not yet.”
‘Cause it’ll be like this, but Skye will want him to do it. Not because of the heat, not because Liam’s his alpha, but because Skye legitimately wants him. (And not Mike or anyone else.) Seems stupid teasing them both, moving so fast then trying to stop and slow down. How’s Skye ever going to want him if they’re so busy kissing and groping they don’t get to talk?
Getting up ain’t so easy though. For one, his knees are stiff, unwilling to bend. For two, Skye begins massaging his scalp, the tingles making him lay his head against Skye’s stomach and start to drift.
“Let me up, pup,” he grumbles quietly, making no move himself to do so.
