CHAPTER

EIGHTEEN

WARREN

To say he had hoped for more experience points was an understatement.

You have slain: Novyrian Corsairs, Level 20-50.

65,000XP Received.

You’d think letting myself get stabbed in the chest twice for a kill would count for bonus experience or something, Warren grumbled inwardly. Or, you know, boarding and capturing a whole pirate battleship.

Warren blew out a breath and rubbed over the holes Yannash had oh so kindly carved through his chest. He supposed he didn’t really have much room to complain. That much experience pushed him way over the halfway mark to the next level of Bloody Wolf and did almost as much for his Berserker class. Capturing things may not grant extra experience outside of the battle world, but there was definitely no arguing that the loot was well worth it.

Plus, he’d actually gotten to do space pirate things! And wasn’t that the greatest prize of them all?

All they needed now was for a more trustworthy crew to show up and take over the reins of the pirate vessels and they’d… Well, Warren doubted a few more ships would actually make a difference against the Ton’althu armada but something was better than nothing.

Pulling up the rest of his notifications, Warren went through his skill and ability gains.

That wasn’t a lot of ability level ups, but in the system’s defense he hadn’t really had the chance to use too many of them. Besides, many of his abilities were at a high enough level that he had to spam them to get any reasonable growth out of them. Warren was just impressed the system let him gain ability experience at all from applying his class abilities to a ship of all things. He really hadn’t expected it to do that. But if he was making a system to rule over an Empire he’d want to cut the guys stuck piloting ships some slack. No sense letting perfectly skilled individuals rot just because they aren’t directly punching people and monsters in the face.

Now those are some big jumps, Warren thought. As it turned out being a reckless, borderline suicidal mad man did in fact pay off when it came to fast-tracking the growth of his skills, and these three were already coming in handy.

To start with, the Boarding skill had a double whammy effect. As the pilot of a ship it increased the likelihood that boarding would be successful. Warren wasn’t sure if that applied to something like boarding pods, but if the Empire had those he imagined having a pod full of troops with high level Boarding skills would go a long way to making sure they didn’t die before they actually got to do their jobs. The second half of the ability was much more practical in increasing the user’s situational awareness while running around in the halls of a ship caught in combat as well as improving their balance for those pesky explosions that liked to smash people into walls or out hull breaches.
