She said slowly, distinctly, 'What exactly are you expecting of me?'

He rubbed his knuckle along his jaw. 'I've come to you because there's no one else. Please realise that. If you'd tell the Visconde the whole truth, but swear him first to secrecy, that would do the trick. He'd see that I got the money, and so on.
