Let us introduce in the following an additional example (adapted from [5]). Figure 4.4 shows a planar spring weight system which is composed of 6 springs (Roman numbering I to VI) and 5 different masses (Arabic numbering 2 to 6). The undeformed configuration, i.e. without the action of any of the masses, is shown in Fig. 4.4a. In this situation, all the springs are horizontally aligned and unstretched.
