4 Note that if you have a single static port on one side of the fuselage, that will introduce a small airspeed indication error in a slip. Slipping to expose the static port to the airflow causes the airspeed indicator to read slow, and slipping away from that side of the fuselage will make it read fast. Many of the old tailwheel airplanes positioned the static port in a neutral place to avoid this problem.

5 The reason for this is that the greater forward speed changes the shape (reduces the angle) of the wind triangle, which reduces the effect of the crosswind and requires less crosswind correction on touchdown.
