“Hello, everybody, and welcome to beautiful Lake McConaughy.” Charlie Butcher smiled benignly down on the entire Juniortours assembly. Taking a deep breath, he began his yearly spiel. “This is our big event, the old Double-J Juniortours Jamboree. You’ve all been touring around pretty much on your own, but here’s where we all come together — the ones who started out in New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami — and you Canadian guys. The next few days we’re going to be having sports and games and good old healthy competition. There’ll be fishing, boating and waterskiing. There’ll be marshmallow roasts and singsongs. We’re all going to be one big happy family!”

“Do you think we look like we’ve got six kids?” Rob whispered to Dennis as Butcher raved on. Artie had disappeared without a trace an hour after breakfast.
