Chapter 33

Zayne stalks up my driveway wearing ripped booty shorts, a pink and white hoodie and matching pink and white Jordans. She looks edible despite me being in a mood with her. Even with the pout on her face.

“Baby, don’t ignore me like that.” She wraps her arms around me and kisses my neck. My heart skips a beat as I lead her inside.

Zayne turns me around once the door is closed and presses our lips together softly. When she pulls away and nibbles on her bottom lip, I take a deep breath.

“I’m still mad at you, Zayne.” I pull away from her and walk off to the kitchen.

“But, why bae?”

“Because…you obviously looked single and you’re not. I really didn’t like seeing all those people drool over you. Plus, I don’t know where you were looking that good. And you didn’t even send me the picture.” I bite the inside of my lip.

Zayne’s dimples cave in as she grins at me. She leans me against the refrigerator and kisses my neck.

“No.” I push her off before she can get started on seducing me. “I’m serious, Zayne. I’m really mad at you.”

We stare at each other for a second and neither of us fill in the silence. When she looks away and rubs her elbow, I take a step towards her and pull her into my arms.

God, she’s such a baby. I love it.

“I do get jealous too.” I mumble and roll my eyes.

“I didn’t think you did. I’m sorry I posted it.” She sighs. “I really didn’t think it would make you mad. Can we make up now?”

Zayne kisses my jaw over and over until I’m smiling and squirming in her arms. The amount of butterflies in my belly is unheard of.

“Sit down.” I say as I push her away. “I’ll make us breakfast and then we can make up as much as you want.”

The way Zayne looks at me makes my stomach flutter every time. I don’t need her to tell me she’s in love or that she loves me, I can see it. I can feel her adoration with my eyes closed and I love it.

As Zayne sits at the kitchen table, I take out everything I need to make bacon, eggs and pancakes. Usually, Rosie does the cooking. But I know how to make breakfast good enough.

“I have a question.” I fill the silence as I scramble the eggs. Zayne crosses her legs and nods.

“Ask it.”

“Was your last relationship with a girl or boy?” I ask.

I sprinkle pepper in the eggs and then reach for the shredded cheese from the refrigerator.

“Female. I told you, I don’t date niggas no more.”

“What was that like?” I have so many questions about her in my head but don’t know why that’s the first one I ask. She bites the inside of her cheek and taps her nails against the table.

“Toxic.” She chuckles and shrugs nonchalantly. “Iono, it was never supposed to turn into a relationship. I got too attached, I guess.
