A CASE OF KUNDALINI AWAKENING

I was convinced that kundalini was real when a kundalini awakening took place in front of my own eyes in my partner Inger in India in January 2006.

Inger had previously suffered from severe depression because of the loss of a son many years before. She had tried medication and feeling release therapy and had engaged in intensive brainwave training for a couple of years prior to our trip to India. She had become adept at sustaining a very high alpha wave activity for more than an hour and her frontal gamma wave activity had also become exceptionally high through gamma wave training (see p.142). Using these techniques she was able to enter very deep states of meditation in which she experienced inner peace and harmony. Her baseline brainwave pattern looked quite normal except for an imbalance of alpha activity between the left and the right sides of the brain. Her alpha waves were twice as high in the left hemisphere as the right, which is typical of a person suffering from depression. However, following the kundalini awakening, her alpha waves were almost equally distributed between the right and the left hemispheres (see www.newbrainnewworld.com).

When we arrived in India, Inger was feeling pretty good and in harmony with herself. She had no expectations about what was going to happen to her there.

On the second day after our arrival we went by bus to an ashram in Nemam, north of Chennai, to see an awakened master called Bhagavan Kalki. Inger describes her experience in Nemam:

Thousands and thousands of Indians were there to see Bhagavan, so the place was pretty crowded. At one point our group of a few hundred people was stuck together in an enclosure in the meditation hall before getting in line to see Bhagavan. I saw a little Indian boy about seven years old crawling towards me begging for some rupees. I got pretty upset and told him with my eyes, ‘No, don’t beg here. Go away.’ Immediately this anger was substituted by indescribable sensations of Grace and energy shooting up through my whole body and out of my head and eyes. I now felt an overwhelming feeling of love toward this little boy, and I could not take my eyes off him.

The explosion itself only lasted for a few moments, but it had tremendous implications for me. Right after, I could barely stand on my feet, but I made it to see Bhagavan, who was sitting in an armchair meditating, surrounded by five male and five female Cosmic Beings (his disciples). Everything in the room was totally illuminated and there was a radiance of Glory, which I don’t have the vocabulary to describe. I was in total awe. I have never ever experienced anything that might give you just a hint of this experience. I was in awe. Tears were pouring out of my eyes.

‘This was heaven!’ I cried out on my way out.

I stumbled out in the open air again, crying, and somehow I managed to get myself onto the bus taking us back to our campus.
