During the creation of a vlan you can set a description for the virtual network, therefore, select the vlan created earlier, type a brief description and click on the Apply button.

In our example, a vlan was created using the 30 identification number and a custom description.

After finishing the vlan management process, be sure to save your settings by clicking on the save option available at the top right of the screen.

It is possible that some readers prefer to use the command-line instead of the web interface, therefore, we will also teach you how to create a vlan using the command-line.

Using either the console, telnet or ssh, connect to the command-line of your switch and log in with a user who has administrative privileges.

If available to your switch model, enter the _cmdline-mode command in order to access the secret command-line mode of the device.
