Chapter TWENTY-SIX

“Bronwyn! Your party is here, get in there and get their drink orders.” She nodded at Lou, but the queasiness in her stomach returned and she fought off the bile that was rising in her throat. Walking down the long dimly lit hallway, she reached the door where her party was, but noticed two men standing outside the door, as if guarding it.

“Excuse me gentlemen, I have to take the drink orders.” They both looked her up and down as if to decide whether to search her for weapons, but instead they opened the door. The eyes of every man in the room went wide, but no one said anything.

“Gentlemen, I’m Bronwyn and I’ll be taking care of you tonight. What can I get you to drink?” They all looked at her but said nothing at first, until the man on her right spoke.

“We will have six bottles of water,” he said quietly.

“Water? You do realize this is a bar?” she asked trying to plaster a smile on her face.

“We do not drink alcohol,” he said curtly.

“Okay fine, six bottles of water,” she said. She left the room and that shiver up her spine got to her again. Standing at the bar she waited for the waters when Trish came up behind her.

“Bronwyn, I don’t have a lot of time. You need to know that Jane danced for those guys several times.” Trish was nervous and if Bronwyn was right, she looked even a little frightened.

“What?! You’re just now telling me this?”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize who the party was and I totally forgot about Jane dancing private parties until I heard Lou telling you about the party…Bronwyn, you need to know something...Jane…Jane often used your name when she was doing private parties.”

“Oh my God! What the fuck?” Bronwyn’s mouth dropped open. She couldn’t believe this shit!

“I know, I know…she thought it was more mysterious than just plain Jane. When she was stripping, she would use Jane of the Jungle…you know…Tarzan and Jane. She…she did more than dance and strip Bronwyn…you know that…right? I just wanted you to know.”

Trish walked away and Bronwyn stared at the six bottles of water. Behind her she could feel someone walking toward her. When she turned, she spotted Max.

“I’ll be on the other side of the mirror Bronwyn. You ready?” His intense gaze held her own. He never looked down at her bikini clad body, his eyes filled with concern, not judgment. She desperately wanted to ask him to take her from this place, but she just couldn’t…not yet.

“N-no…Trish, just told me…Jane danced for these guys.”

“So, they’re repeat customers. Is that a big deal?” he asked.

“No, but she used my name when she danced for them Max. She didn’t use her name; she used my name.”

Fucking hell! Tell her no fucking way…we leave now!
