Too warm.

I wake up feeling warm.

Too warm.

Somebody has their arms wrapped around me, but I’m still too sleepy to open my eyes. I just snuggle closer to whoever is holding me.

But then it hits me.

Somebody is in my bed with me.

My eyes fly open, and I realize that I’m not actually in my room. I’m in Carson’s room.

What the heck? I never sleep over. It’s one of my rules. Aside from my first boyfriend, I’ve never spent any time after sex with a guy, and even with him, I never slept over.

I pull myself out of Carson’s arms, and he doesn’t stir.

Thank goodness.

I really want to avoid the awkward morning after talk.

I get up from the bed, feeling a familiar ache between my legs. Last night was incredible, which is probably why I ended up falling asleep. But I really wish Carson had woken me up.

I look around the room for my clothes. They’re thrown everywhere. My bra is on the lamp, my tank top is on the floor, and my shorts somehow ended up hanging from the door handle that leads out of his room.

I quickly toss on my clothes and run from his room, hoping that I don’t see anybody on my way back to my room.

Of course, I’m not lucky, though. Apparently, I picked the worst morning to sleep in. Even though it’s just after nine in the morning, everybody seems to be out and about, including Hendrix.

“Doing the walk of shame, Brook?” Hendrix paces beside me.

“We’re not discussing this.” I clench my teeth, hoping Hendrix will drop this.

“I can see that you’re not in the mood to talk now, but we will finish this conversation later.”

Great.

I walk ahead, toward my room. I’m desperate to get out of there and just forget last night ever happened. Well, not all of last night. There were definitely some enjoyable parts. But I want to forget the part where I slept over.

Gah, what was I thinking?

After getting a quick shower, I head toward the dining hall to grab a late breakfast. I didn’t sign up for any extra classes today because Luke wants to do some training with me, and I’m always game for that. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that you can’t take time off from this job. There is no rest if you want to be a good agent. If you want to be successful, you have to work your butt off, and you have to make personal sacrifices. That’s why I’ve never had much of a social life, but somehow, while attending school here, I’ve managed to somehow get a social life for the first time ever. It’s so weird.

When I get into the dining hall, I grab some food, and I sit down at the table I always sit at. Hendrix, Ellie, and Luke are nowhere to be seen. They always eat earlier. But the cafeteria is still pretty full of people.

As I’m sitting there, enjoying my breakfast, a familiar blonde girl sits down at the table in front of me.
