‘How was it?’ asked Mrs Kano when they were back in the auditorium.

‘Pretty good fun,’ said Cate. ‘But he can’t wrestle. How did you get on?’

‘Oh, fine.’

‘What exactly did you do?’

‘I’ll tell you one day.’

‘But not now?’

‘But not now. Anyway,’ she said, looking at her watch, ‘it’s high time I went home.’

Cate looked at her. ‘It’s a long way, right?’ she said.

Mrs Kano smiled. ‘Far away from here.’

‘Are you going to the village where we were just now?’

Mrs Kano didn’t reply, just walked into the lobby and put on her coat.

‘I’m going to need your help another time,’ she said. ‘Would you assist me again?’

‘Babysitting for Tubs, you mean?’

Mrs Kano laughed. ‘Ha, yes, something like that.’

‘But I don’t understand, Mrs Kano. Why do I have to keep an eye on him? What does he have to do with what you’re doing?’

‘Not so many questions, remember? See you next time, Cate.’
