I met Burt due to the Meltdown event I was sponsoring. The plumbing on the Vincent is just downright amazing. Burt was doing a charity ride around the United States with his Vincent Black Shadow. If I recall correctly, this bike had been in the family, which is rather customary in the world of Black Shadows.

For many, the Vincent Black Shadow is the first superbike, and to many, the very best. For years, this bike was the fastest production bike. A bit of history—the 1948 motorcyclist Rollie Free set a 150 mph land speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats, which just happens to be about an hour from the studio. Without a doubt, this is the best bike ever photographed through this project.
