I hopped out of the car, reaching back for my shopping bags.

“As enjoyable as it is to catch you,” Jake said, flipping me around to face him. “I’m afraid I’m going to have to insist that you stop trying to run away.”

“You know, you’re keeping me here by force,” I said.

“Correct,” Jake said. “And I’ll continue to keep you here by force until you stop running away.”

“Eventually I’ll succeed,” I said sulkily.

His eyes darkened then, and he stepped closer to me. “If you run away from me one more time, Saoirse, I’ll put you over my knee. And you won’t like that.”

“Why do you want to marry me so badly?” I asked heatedly.

He gave me a look, and then headed up the stairs to his parents’ trailer. “If you’d had a husband,” he said, his eyes like a brand on my skin. “I would have killed him as soon as I’d hunted you down to take you. Nothing is going to stop me from marrying you.”

A prickly heat broke out on my skin, the age-old prey instinct when confronted with a dangerous predator. Every instinct for self-preservation screamed that I had to get away, had to escape, had to break the spell of those hypnotic predator eyes.

But I followed that tall, rangy body inside instead, the insistent pull he had over me drowning out every instinct for self-preservation.

I was startled to see several older ladies inside all sitting around the tiny trailer’s living room, industriously arranging flowers for the upcoming wedding Jake was forcing me into.

“I want to introduce you to my soon-to-be daughter-in-law,” said Ivy, and she looked at me with such warm eyes.

“Ooo,” said one lady in her 50s, who had a cherubic face, “We never thought Jake would get married.”

It was hovering on my lips to say, “He was waiting for someone to kidnap and hold hostage,” but I didn’t.

Because, truth be told, I was starting to feel a flicker of pleasure whenever anybody said something similar.

I felt fear, but also, pleasure.

They were some big eaters, and I noticed that the trays were getting a bit thin, so I was in the tiny kitchen cutting the cucumber for more sandwiches when Jake came up behind me.

I didn’t resist when he put his warm arms around my belly.

He nestled his head in my shoulder and I felt warmth flood my whole body.

“I think I owe you,” he said, his lips a tease on my neck.

“Huh?” I asked, and then, behind the counter, he bent one big hand down to the button on my shorts.

I gasped as he deftly flipped both buttons open and plunged his hand down to my pussy.

“Jake!” I hissed, trying to remove his hand.

But he didn’t move it.

“Jake, they’re going to see!” I hissed again.

“Then you better be quiet,” he whispered, his breath tickling my ear and making the hairs on my neck stand up.

I tried to move his hands again, but all he did was bite my ear and say smugly, “you can’t escape, baby.
