Aldolfo waited until the proper time to make his call on Miss Angelina. Captured by her dark beauty, he hoped to make his own intentions known. Mrs. Williams motioned him to sit as she rang for the servant to prepare tea.

As they exchanged small talk of the weather, Angelina swept into the room, dressed in an afternoon silk pelisse dress of striped green. The empire waist, inspired by Empress Josephine in France, was all the rage, and Angelina pulled it off nicely. Her dark tresses were swept up off her neck, secured by a matching green ribbon, and several curls framed her face. Around her neck she wore a thick green ribbon with an ivory cameo at her throat.
